FAQs
Shipping & Cost Savings
How much does the Genie Canvas save me on shipping?
Our system is designed to reduce shipping costs from $700 or more (for large freight) down to the cost of a standard package (often as low as $40 for US domestic shipping). With our recent Phase 2 upgrades, the solid hardwood frame is now several pounds lighter, driving your freight costs down even further while maintaining maximum strength!
What do I need to ship my finished painting?
Every blank Genie Canvas order is all-inclusive! You receive the upgraded stretcher bar system, the canvas, and all necessary packaging materials for compact shipping, including our signature sturdy shipping tube, foam sheeting, and hanging wire.
Can I ship internationally using this system?
Yes. The system dramatically cuts international shipping costs by converting bulky, rigid art into a lightweight, shippable tube. You will save significantly compared to international freight rates.
Phase 2 Upgrades & Assembly
How do I fix a loose canvas if it ships to a humid climate?
Our completely re-engineered Phase 2 design solves this problem entirely! The system now includes 8 brace keys and 4 corner keys. By simply tapping these traditional wooden keys into place with a hammer, you can stretch your canvas drum-tight instantly. This gives you total control to fix loose or sagging canvases caused by changes in climate and humidity.
Are there any plastic pieces that can break during assembly?
Not anymore! We listened to your feedback and completely eliminated the breakable plastic staple pieces from our old design. The entire frame and cross-bracing system now rely on a highly durable, interlocking wood-on-wood mechanism using custom spines.
Is the new frame harder to assemble?
Assembly is just as fast and easy. The frame remains completely tool-less to put together, allowing you to assemble your canvas in under 5 minutes. The only tool you might want is a small hammer or mallet to tap in the optional tension keys if you prefer a tighter stretch.

Genie improvements 2026
Improvements
- Brace Spines: The system now includes four "brace spines" that slide into the stretcher bars and lock onto the braces via pre-installed nails.
- Tensioning Keys: To address issues with canvas sagging in humid climates, the new design includes 12 keys: eight for the braces and four for the corners.
- Adjustable Tightness: By tapping these keys into the braces or corners with a mallet, artists can customise the canvas tension to their specific preference.
- Simplified Disassembly: The keys and spines are designed to be easily popped out when an artist needs to disassemble the canvas.
How does Genie Canvas save me up to 90% on shipping?
Traditional large-format canvases (like a 60" x 60") require oversized freight crating, which can cost upwards of $700 for domestic transit. Because our patented system collapses into a high-durability 4-inch diameter tube, it qualifies for standard ground shipping, typically costing around $40.
